On Thursday, 17th July 2025, Dr. Tiberio Chiari, Head of AICS Cairo, was welcomed by Heliopolis University, the Egyptian local partner of the WATDEV Project, for an insightful field visit to SEKEM Farm. He was accompanied by Mr. Alberto Tarantino, WATDEV Project Coordinator, along with a distinguished delegation from the EU-ZIRA3A Programme, also funded by the European Union and managed by AICS Cairo.
The visit was organized to provide Dr. Chiari with a comprehensive overview of the WATDEV Project’s activities and impact on the ground. At SEKEM Farm, participants were introduced to the Best Management Practices (BMPs) promoted by WATDEV in the field of sustainable agriculture and water management.
Beyond exploring the technical aspects of WATDEV, the visit served as a valuable opportunity to foster dialogue and exchange between two EU-funded initiatives, WATDEV and EU-ZIRA3A. Discussions focused on identifying potential areas of synergy and future collaboration, particularly in sustainable agriculture, rural development, and climate resilience.
