Biography
Tropical agronomist. By working since 1985 at the Overseas Agronomic Institute (Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare -IAO) in Florence, Italy, and since 2016 at the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), he holds forty years of experience in agricultural research for development, in professional training and in the formulation and implementation of technical cooperation projects in several countries of Central and South America and Africa.
Within AICS, he was a member of the Verification Team for five years, for the ex-ante evaluation of bilateral and multilateral development initiatives submitted for financing by the Italian Cooperation.
In the period 2018-2020, he was the Head of the AICS office in Addis Ababa with a mandate for Ethiopia, South Sudan and Djibouti.
On April 26, 2025, Dr. Tiberio Chiari officially assumed his position as Head of the AICS Office in Cairo.
