AICS Cairo takes part in the international fair Macfrut 2025 in Rimini, which hosted the workshop “Agribusiness and the fruit and vegetable sector: drivers of development to foster new international partnerships between Italy and Africa”. The event was organized by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), with the involvement of Italian institutions and international organizations, and was dedicated to promoting synergies among businesses, institutions, and startups engaged in agri-food systems.

The event provided an important opportunity to explore collaboration prospects in the agri-food sector between Italy and the countries of the Piano Mattei, with a special focus on Egypt. Particular attention was given to the agribusiness and fruit and vegetable sectors, strategic engines for sustainable growth and the internationalization of enterprises.

The event also served as a platform to share experiences and development opportunities promoted and supported by Sistema Italia, including ITA (Italian Trade Agency), SIMEST and CDP (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti).

The Head of AICS Cairo office, Tiberio Chiari, emphasized the importance of making new technologies accessible in rural areas, through agricultural associationism and the promotion of the water-food-energy nexus across value chains.

AICS Cairo also presented the experiences of Egyptian startups OZ-Tech and Agrican, supported by the Agritech4Egypt initiative, promoted by Alliance Bioversity & CIAT and funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). The testimonies of the two Egyptian entrepreneurs highlighted how technological innovation can improve productivity, food security, and the sustainable use of resources in agriculture, while also fostering opportunities for youth in rural areas. The project aims to create a favorable ecosystem for agricultural innovation in Egypt, strengthening the link between startups, institutions, and academia.
