With a funding portfolio currently totalling almost €85 million in grants and concessional loans, the Italian Development Cooperation aims to promote the country’s sustainable economic development by supporting private sector growth, particularly micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and innovative start-ups, and the transfer of know-how in industrial sectors in which Italy can bring added value, such as leather, marble and timber
Education and Training
AICS Cairo has established itself as a key driver of TVET modernisation in Egypt, with a total direct and indirect investment of around EUR 30 million across 10 initiatives. TVET Portfolio supports 7 education and training institutions nationwide.
Environment
In this sector, the Italian Cooperation, in collaboration with the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency of the Egyptian Ministry of the Environment, continues its support in environmental protection through the Egyptian-Italian Environmental Cooperation Program (EIECP) through the promotion of sustainable natural resource management mechanisms and the promotion of protected areas through the engagement of the local communities.
EU Delegated Cooperation
With a portfolio of European Union funding amounting to approximately €90 million, the Italian Development Cooperation in Egypt confirms its role as one of the leading actors in delegated cooperation, contributing to the implementation of the priorities agreed with the Egyptian Governmentcooperazione attraverso il “Nuovo Consenso Europeo sullo Sviluppo” che rappresenta un quadro di riferimento strategico sia per le istituzioni comunitarie che per i Paesi membri.

Migration and Development
The Italian Cooperation’s migration and development strategy in Egypt aims primarily at engaging diasporas in local development initiatives, protecting and socioeconomic empowerment of migrants, and addressing the root and structural causes of irregular migration.
Rural Development
Rural development and food security have always been priority sectors of the Italian cooperation in the country, and over the years the Agency has relied on fruitful collaborations with local and international actors and institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Reclamation, the Desert Research Center the Agricultural Research Center, the General Authority for Fish Resources Development (of the Egyptian Ministry itself), the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute (IAM) in Bari, various Italian and Egyptian NGOs, and United Nations agencies such as FAO, UNIDO and WFP.
