Cairo, Egypt – February 12, 2025– Under the esteemed patronage of the Italian Ambassador to Egypt, H.E Michele Quaroni, and in the presence of H.E. Dr. Giuseppe Valditara, Italian Minister of Education and Merit and H.E. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Egyptian Minister of Education and Technical Education, a fruitful seminar was held today at The Four Seasons Hotel – Nile Corniche in Cairo.
Titled “Technical and Vocational Education: Higher Technological Institutes (ITS) in Support of Growth,” the seminar brought together key stakeholders to reinforce international collaboration and advance technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Egypt.
A highlight of the event was the signing ceremony, where key agreements were formalized to strengthen the collaboration between Italy and Egypt in the field of vocational education and training (TVET) leveraging the best practices of Egypt’s Applied Technical Schools (ATS) and Italy’s Higher Technical Institutes (ITS) to create a “bridge” of integrative studies, including Italian language education, facilitating Egyptian students’ access to Italian ITS. The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) played a crucial role in supporting this initiative.
The second initiative to reinforce the cooperation between educational system and the market sector, was the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between AICS and the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) to improve the quality of TVET provisions in Egypt.
Additionally, AICS entered into an agreement with Eni which will implement complementary activities under the program “TEJPA – Improving Technical Education and Job Prospects through ATS Model” which is funded by the European Union. This collaboration is particularly significant as it will increase the impact and reach of TEJPA, reaffirming and strengthening the partnership between AICS and the European Union in Egypt.
The last initiative was the signature of the Agreement PLAY 2 – School of Hotel Management and Tourism Services in Fayoum from The Italian Embassy in Egypt and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) countersigned by AICS, which focuses on providing sustainable employment opportunities for young people in the region.
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) is committed to supporting sustainable development and fostering international partnerships. Through various programs and initiatives, AICS aims to improve educational frameworks, promote economic growth, and enhance the quality of life in partner countries.
