1st Joint Steering Committee Meeting
Cairo, Egypt – February 23, 2025 – The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation (MoPEDIC) chaired the first Joint Steering Committee (JSC) meeting of the EU-Kafi Programme, bringing together key institutional stakeholders, including representatives from AICS Cairo, the EU Delegation to Egypt, the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (MoALR), and the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade (MoSIT).
The meeting served as a platform to review the progress made during the first year of the programme’s implementation and to outline the roadmap for the second year. The JSC plays a critical role in fostering coordination among stakeholders, monitoring the programme’s performance, and addressing challenges that may arise throughout its implementation.
The EU-Kafi Programme is part of the EU’s support to improving cereal crops production in Egypt by sustainably increasing grain production, enhancing resilience to climate change, and reducing post-harvest losses through improved grain storage facilities and monitoring capacities.
With a €40 million grant funded by the European Union and implemented by AICS, the programme continues to work towards building a more resilient and efficient agricultural sector, reinforcing the EU’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and food security in Egypt.
